Specifically, its AI foundation model will help find sustainable raw materials to produce new beauty products, reducing energy costs and waste.

IBM says this AI program will be the “first-of-its-kind in the industry, redefining AI innovation at the intersection of beauty, chemistry and technology.”

Moreover, IBM Consulting will help L’Oréal rethink and redesign its formulation discovery process.

L’Oréal has been using artificial intelligence since 2019 when Vichy SkinConsultAI was the first to use the global brand’s AI-powered skin diagnostic. 

The tool lets consumers take selfies to detect aging signs.

Then, Vichy will analyze these along with their lifestyles and environments to recommend the right products.

In the Consumer Electronics Show 2020, L’Oréal took its AI program to the next level with Perso.

It’s a beauty tech device that uses generative AI to provide similar yet more advanced AI skin diagnoses. 

Nowadays, generative AI helps improve numerous industries outside of cosmetics.

For example, Google DeepMind assists scientists in creating new materials. 

Also, a Nobel Laureate winner recently used AI to create antivenom with a 100% success rate in neutralizing some of the deadliest cobra venoms.
