The legacy of the late screen veteran Gloria Romero was remembered by more celebrities on social media, with some looking back at how she changed their lives in one way or another.
Romero died at the age of 91 on Saturday, January 25, as confirmed by her sole child, Maritess Gutierrez. Aside from her daughter, she was survived by her grandson Chris Gutierrez, who is also an actor.

‘Hindi ako makakalimot’Padilla revealed on his Facebook page that Romero was one of the first people who believed in his ability as an actor, where she pointed out that he deserved to snag a lead role.

I will never forget it),” he captioned his post, while including a snippet of True Faith’s “Paglisan.”
Article continues after this advertisement ‘Queen’Cherry Pie Picache took to her Instagram account to express her love for Romero, saying heaven “will definitely shine brighter” with her presence.
“My Queen of the Philippine Cinema. Maraming, maraming salamat (Thank you very much) Ms. Gloria Romero. I love you Tita Glo,” she wrote. “Rest now in the loving arms of our Father and His perpetual light shine upon you. Heaven will definitely shine brighter with one of the most beautiful soul, being home.”
Article continues after this advertisement View this post on InstagramMeanwhile, Eugene Domingo addressed Romero as a “queen” on her Instagram Story, while sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of them on the set of the 2001 drama “Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan.”
Unforgettable memoriesSharon Cuneta, on Instagram, was heartbroken over Romero’s death, while being grateful for the opportunity to work with the late film star at some point in her career.
“This is jarring, and so sad. Another Movie Queen and pillar of the Movie Industry. I am grateful and blessed to have been able to work with her and get to know her better than most other co-stars. A Queen through and through,” she wrote.
View this post on InstagramThe actress-singer also described Romero as someone who’s “gentle, regal, funny, and such great company,” while condoling with the latter’s family.
“So gentle, regal, yet funny and such great company. I am honored to have even been able to sit beside you. Tita Glo, ‘Ninang…’ I will never forget you. And we will all greatly miss you. May you rest well in God our Father’s loving arms. I love you,” she wrote.
“Our deepest condolences to Tita Glo’s family. We pray for strength for you. May God be with you all at this difficult time,” Cuneta further added.
Meanwhile, Manilyn Reynes recalled how Romero portrayed her onscreen mother in her first film, sharing that the latter’s “voice and grace” made her comfortable every time they would do a scene together.
“Aking mama sa unang-una kong pelikula, Queen of Philippine Cinema, Mommy Glo, maraming salamat po sa kabaitan ninyo sa akin. Your smile, soothing voice, and grace made me feel comfortable acting with you in that very first scene, ‘yung we were on the bed, talking, while you were brushing my hair po,” she said, referring to the 1983 film “To Mama with Love.”
Unemployment among young people and college graduates jumped from 13.2% in June to 17.1% in July, as some 12 million students entered the labour market, before the August figure rose to its highest level since the National Bureau of Statistics decided to change the methodology to not include students in December 2023.
“Simula noon hanggang sa mga panahong nagka-trabaho po tayo sa TV, pagkatapos ng unang movie na pinagsamahan natin,” she continued.

“All the tips, reminders, and lessons you taught me will forever be in my heart. Ang mga turo ninyo tungkol sa professionalism, pagpapahalaga sa oras, trabaho at sarili. Mga pangaral tungkol sa buhay, pamilya at pag-ibig, lagi ko pong tatandaan. Pahinga ka na po, Mommy. Love you po,” she said.
(All the tips, reminders, and lessons you taught me will forever be in my heart. I will always remember your lessons on being professional, being mindful of other people’s time, jobs, and myself, life, family, and love. Rest now, Mommy. I love you.)
Shaina Magdayao, on the other hand, recalled her experience working with Romero in the 2000 film “Tanging Yaman” where the late film star portrayed the former’s onscreen grandmother.
“Rest in peace, my Lola Gloria. The woman who taught me how to pray the rosary on the set of ‘Tanging Yaman.’ So blessed to have shared the screen with you po, but most importantly, to have learned from such a gracious soul,” she captioned her Instagram Story.

“Salamat po (Thank you) for touching lives with your beautiful presence,” continued Magdayao.
On his Instagram Story, Richard Gomez said working with Romero in the 1987 sitcom “Palibhasa Lalake” was a fun experience for him.
“You will be missed. It was fun working with you doing several movies together in ‘Palibhasa Lalake’ for many, many years. May you rest in eternal peace,” he captioned his post.
Romero started her acting career in the 1940s where she either portrayed an extra or a minor role. Her breakthrough arrived in 1952 when she took on the supporting role in “Madame X” and eventually, the lead role in “Dalagang Ilocana” two years later.
